RADON GAS TESTING
RADON GAS TESTING
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that forms from the decay of uranium in soil and rock. It is invisible, odourless, and tasteless — but it can accumulate inside homes, offices, and public buildings to concentrations that pose serious health risks.
Health Canada —Radon is the #1 leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers across Canada and responsible for 3000+ preventable deaths each year.
The Health Canada Guideline
Health Canada’s Canadian Radon Guideline establishes a reference level of 200 Bq/m³ (Becquerels).
If average radon concentration (annual) in occupied areas (4 hours a day) of a building exceed this, then mitigation should be undertaken as soon as reasonably possible.
👉 Testing is the only way to determine whether radon levels are elevated — as radon can vary significantly between neighbouring buildings and even between rooms within the same structure.
OUR TESTING PROCESS
Envirotrak Analytics Ltd. follows Health Canada’s “Guide for Radon Measurements in Homes, 2025” and “Radon Measurements in Public Buildings, 2023” standards.
Short-Term Screening Tests, 48+ Hours 🧪
Screening verification, e.g., real estate transactions or post-mitigation assessments.
Carried out over a min. of 48 hours under closed-building conditions.
Performed using C-NRPP approved electronic radon monitors, to log readings hourly and detect fluctuations caused by ventilation, occupancy, or weather.
Long-Term Measurements, 91 Days 🎯
91 days min., usually during heating season for more accurate representation of annual average radon levels.
Calibrated devices are deployed in lowest occupied level of building where occupancy is min. 4 hours per day average over time.
Continuous Remote Monitoring, 24/7 📡
For clients requiring ongoing assurance, Envirotrak can provide continuous radon monitoring using C-NRPP approved electronic radon monitors connected by cellular or LoRaWAN. The Benefits:
Real-time measurement and trend analysis.
Threshold alerts if radon levels exceed safe limits.
Remote data access and historical tracking.
Quality Assurance & Certification
Envirotrak adheres to C-NRPP Quality Control and Quality Assurance, such as:
Routine instrument calibration and performance verification.
Duplicate and blank test deployment.
Comprehensive documentation and traceable reporting.
All reports include raw data, device calibration records, placement conditions, and a clear interpretation against the Health Canada guideline value of 200 Bq/m³ for mitigation.
